Youth Support Counselor

Welcome to Detric Gooden Ministries! We are looking for a Youth Support Counselor to join our team in Anniston, Alabama. As a counselor, you will work alongside our team to provide mental and physical help to troubled youth through our Care Center. You will also have the opportunity to lead various classes for adults on topics such as health, mental well-being, finances, marriage, relationships, business, parenting, and more. We value and love all people, especially the youth, and have been involved in local school systems and boot camps. What sets us apart is our unique understanding of the balance between spiritual and physical well-being, which we believe was given to us by God. Additionally, we go the extra mile by providing food for the homeless.

What You’ll Do

  • As a Youth Support Counselor, you will work alongside our team to provide mental and physical help to troubled youth through our Care Center. You will also have the opportunity to lead various classes for adults on topics such as health, mental well-being, finances, marriage, relationships, business, parenting, and more. Our Care Center is a safe haven for youth who are struggling with emotional or behavioral issues. You will help them to develop coping skills and to build relationships with positive role models.
  • In this role, you will work with a team of counselors and volunteers to provide a safe and caring environment for youth. You will be responsible for leading group counseling sessions and providing one-on-one support to those in need. You will also assist in the planning and implementation of recreational activities and special events.

Who You Are

  • As a Youth Support Counselor, you are passionate about helping troubled youth. You have experience working with youth in a counseling or mentorship capacity. You are empathetic and understanding, and you are able to build relationships with youth who are struggling. You have a strong understanding of mental health and behavioral issues, and you are able to develop effective treatment plans.
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a related field. You are licensed or certified in your field of expertise. You have experience working in a clinical or therapeutic setting. You are able to work independently, but also as part of a team. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
